SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould believes that whoever keeps their nerve and wants it more will win the MTN8 saying that ‘form counts for nothing’, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

While both SuperSport and their opponents in this Saturday’s MTN8 final Cape Town City have impressed in the competition, the start to their respective league campaigns could not be more different.

SuperSport, who beat Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on the way to the MTN8 final, have flourished in the league winning four of their opening six games, losing only to Pirates and the Citizens in the other games.

That win for City over Matsatsantsa on the opening day of the season is, however, the only time they have managed to pick up three points so far. City have struggled to find consistency and have slumped to three draws, while also losing to Baroka and Chiefs, who demolished City 4-1 just two weeks ago.

Despite the contrast in league form, Gould believes that in a final the winners will be decided by who wants it more.

‘This is a cup final and recent form counts for nothing,’ said the defender.

‘It is one of those things that whoever keeps their nerve and who wants it more that will win.

‘You just have to give your best, knowing the other team is also going to give their best. I can bet you, we not going to hold back, and they are not going to hold back.

‘It’s one of those games that City wants to get one over us and we just want to retain the cup,’ concluded Gould.
