Bafana Bafana are set to take on Senegal in their second Group D encounter in the World Cup qualifiers at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

South Africa will be hoping to collect all three points at home after their 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso in their opening Group D match. Winners of the group automatically qualify for the final in Russia and a win over Senegal would be huge even in these early stages of the qualifiers.

With Shakes Mashaba’s side having not qualified for a World Cup since hosting the tournament in 2010, they have drawn a decent group where Senegal are the team to beat.

However, South Africa easily defeated Angola 4-1 on aggregate in the second round and if they are to top Senegal, they really need a positive result on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Senegal started well by defeating Cape Verde 2-0 at home, with the other two sides drawing in their opening matches.

A victory for the Lions of Teranga would be good for their qualifying chances, as they look to open up a gap at the top of Group D.

Bafana Bafana against Senegal kicks off at 15:00.
