Liverpool suffered a 3-2 defeat against Swansea City in the Premier League in a five-goal thriller at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

Swansea got off to a good start and came close to opening the scoring in the 19th minute when Tom Carroll made his way into the area before his strike at goal was deflected against the woodwork.

Meanwhile, the Reds dominated the first half as the match when on but failed to conjure up any chances in the final third.

In the opening 45 minutes of the match, Liverpool failed to register a single shot on target as the match went into the half time interval locked at 0-0.

However, the Swans eventually broke the deadlock shortly after the break when Fernando Llorente put the ball into the back of the net from six-yards out after some poor defending from Liverpool.

Swansea then doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Llorente completed his brace and rose well to head the ball into the back of the net from a Gylfi Sigurdsson’s cross.

Jurgen Klopp’s side reduced the deficit to one goal when Roberto Firmino headed the ball home after latching onto a cross from James Milner at the far post.

The Reds then levelled matters in the 69th minute when Georginio Wijnaldum’s cross found Firmino, who volleyed the ball into the bottom corner to complete his brace.

However, Swansea took the lead for the second time in the match in the 74th minute when a clearance from Ragnar Klavan landed at the feet of Sigurdsson before he slotted the ball into the back of the net from 12-yard out to make it 3-2.

Liverpool pressed forward in search of an equaliser goal in the final stages of the match but Swansea managed to hold on to their 3-2 lead over the Reds until the final whistle to claim a crucial victory at Anfield.
