French international Christopher Nkunku has finally completed his move to Chelsea from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.

The 25-year-old, who will officially become a Chelsea player on July 1, has agreed to a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

“I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea,’ said Nkunku. ‘A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch,” Nkunku told his club’s official website.

“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”

Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, stated: ‘Christopher has established himself as one of the premier attacking players in European football over the past two seasons and will add quality, creativity, and versatility to our squad.

“He has demonstrated his ability at the highest level with RB Leipzig and France and we look forward to him joining up with his new teammates ahead of the new season.”

Nkunku went to the famous French national football academy at Clairefontaine and started his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain. Before leaving for RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019, he played for the first team 78 times and helped win three Ligue 1 titles and two Coupe de Frances.

Nkunku became known as one of the best forwards in European football because of how well he played in Germany. During the 2021/22 season, he scored 35 goals in all competitions and was named the Bundesliga Player of the Season and the German PFA Player of the Season. They also won the DFB-Pokal.

This season, the versatile forward scored another 23 goals to help Leipzig finish third in the Bundesliga and keep the DFB-Pokal.
