Spain forward Alvaro Morata and Wales star Gareth Bale lead the race for the Euro 2016 Golden Boot award.

Bale’s form has been integral in seeing his side advance to the knockout phase despite losing 2-1 to neighbours England in Group B action.

Two of Bale’s three goals have come from free kicks as the Welshman added his name to a select list of players who have scored in all three game phase games.

Level on three goals is Alvaro Morata. The Spanish forward who is set to return to Real Madrid after the club exercised their buy-back clause in his Juventus contract. Morata’s three goals have come in 222 minutes, 50 fewer than Bale’s trio of strikes. Morata added a brace against Turkey before opening the scoring against Croatia.

The chasing pack, all on two goals so far, consists of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani (both of Portugal), French wizard Dimitri Payet, Romelu Lukaku (Everton and Belgium). Ivan Perisic is also on the list after impressing against Spain. Hungary’s Balazs Dzsudzsak is the last player still in the competition on the same amount.

Romania have been eliminated leaving Bogdan Stancu unable to add to his tally of two.
