15-time Major champion Tiger Woods has led the praise for Hideki Matsuyama’s successful performance at this past weekend’s Masters, saying his victory will change the game for the better.

Matsuyama became the first Japanese men’s golfer to win a Major and the first Asian golfer to ever win at Augusta as he etched his name in history with a one-stroke win.

Following the conclusion of the Masters on Sunday, Woods, who missed the event due to injury, congratulated Matsuyama on Twitter.

‘Making Japan proud Hideki. Congratulations on such a huge accomplishment for you and your country. This historical @TheMasters win will impact the entire golf world,’ Woods said.

There was also further praise for Ernie Els, Bubba Watson and Jack Nicklaus, who all applauded Matsuyama’s efforts at Augusta.
