Bafana Bafana forward Keagan Dolly is relishing the chance to participate in his first-ever Cosafa Cup tournament after his injury-plagued season.

The 26-year-old attacker arrived in Durban to join the South African national team squad ahead of their quarter-final match against Botswana on Sunday.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star will participate in his maiden Cosafa Cup in order to gain full match fitness as he tries to earn a spot in Stuart Baxter’s squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament.

Dolly spent most of the 2018-19 campaign on the sidelines due to injury, which ruled him out for Bafana’s Afcon qualifier against Libya in March, but he has since recovered from his injury setback and is now roaring to stretch his legs in the Cosafa Cup.

‘Since the Afcon qualifier in March, I have now played four matches with our reserve side, and have fully recovered from an injury that kept me out for most of the season. I am very happy to be in Durban to participate in my first-ever Cosafa Cup. My family and I decided that it was important for me to be part of this team, and I am grateful to the coaches for giving me this opportunity,’ Dolly told the media.

‘I believe I can bring something great to this team, while also work on gaining my match fitness in order to hopefully make the final Afcon squad next month.’

Bafana Bafana will continue with preparations for their opening match for the Cosafa Cup against Botswana when they hold their second training session later today at Hoy Park, North Beach.
