Paris Saint-Germain President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said it was too soon to consider changes, after watching his team get knocked out of the Champions League.

The club president was clearly upset after his team’s latest foray into Europe was cut short yet again as they suffered a 2-1 loss on Tuesday to Real Madrid. The result follows the 3-1 first leg loss at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos, in the end, comfortable 5-2 aggregate winners of the tie.

The club exits the competition at the round of 16 stage for the second consecutive season and has now failed to reach the semi-finals of the prestigious competition since Al-Khelaifi and the Qatar Sports Investment group took over in 2011.

The result will undoubtedly bring coach Unai Emery into focus as Champions League success is the measurement stick for any coach in charge of the Parisians.

Al-Khelaifi, however, was adamant that the club would not let emotion play a part in their decisions.

‘It’s not the moment. Everyone is very upset,’ he said, via L’Equipe.

‘We will calm down to think about what to change,’ he added.

Asked what disappointed him most, Al-Khelaifi said, ‘The elimination, the reaction of some players. We are not happy at all. We are very, very disappointed with the result. In the first half we dominated. We were only missing a goal, that’s all. With one goal the match would have changed. Verratti’s red card killed the match. We will work, give more for the club and our supporters.’
