Bayern Munich ran rampant over Arsenal following their 5-1 victory, while Real Madrid cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win over Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Bayern got off to a firing start and opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Arjen Robben curled his effort into the top corner from 25-yards out to make it 1-0.

However, the Gunners were then awarded a penalty in the 30th minute. Alexis Sanchez stepped up to take the spot-kick but had his effort saved, before putting the ball into the back of the net with his rebound effort.

The Bundesliga side then took the lead for the second time in the match when Robert Lewandowski latched onto a cross from Philipp Lahm before heading the ball into the back of the net.

Bayern then added a third goal in the 56th minute when Lewandowski played Thiago Alcantara through on goal before he calmly slotted into the bottom corner to make it 3-1.

The home side netted their fourth goal in the 63rd minute when Thiago grabbed his second after his deflected strike at goal found the back of the net from the edge of the area.

However, in the 88th minute, Bayern all but sealed the victory when substitute Thomas Muller rounded off the scoring with a calm finish into the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, defending champions Real Madrid came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory win over Napoli at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Serie A side broke the deadlock after eight minutes when Lorenzo Insigne curled his effort into the far post before Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Casemiro rounded off the scoring for the Spanish giants.
