Pescara and Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari has pledged his support to player boycotts in a bid to eradicate racism in world football.

The 32-year-old was caught in a racial spat with fans in a Serie A encounter against Cagliari on April 30 and was subsequently shown a yellow card for complaining about the racial abuse he had faced and although the card was rescinded, the incident sparked an outcry from the global football fraternity condemning racism.

The former AC Milan midfielder highlighted how often racism takes place in football, in addition to revealing the great strides he would go in support of players wishing to boycott games, in a bid to combat racism.

‘Every game. I was sitting down [Sunday] and it was happening. There was a player playing and it was happening in the stands so how are we going to tackle this?’ he told CNN Sport.

‘This isn’t the first time it has happened. We talk about it and after maybe one week, two weeks it’s gone. Then, maybe after a month or two later, it happens somewhere and you get calls to talk about it and then it’s shut again.

‘Yeah I am – of course. And I will be number one, I will be part of it, anywhere and I’ll go,’ he added.
