Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau is continuing to make waves in Europe after two match-winning displays since making his way back into the Club Brugge lineup.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns started the season with a bang as he was immediately introduced into the team at Brugge.

However, he found himself on the bench after returning from the Fifa international break.

Brugge coach Philippe Clement was quick to point out that Tau’s absence was just down to rotation.

‘Percy Tau? We have a lot of players and need to choose based on the game plan, tactics, coherence,’ Clement told the club’s website prior to the game against Belgium giants Anderlecht.

‘Every one of my 27 players has the quality to play for Club Brugge, which means not everyone will play every game.’

The Bafana forward, though, was then brought back into the team and put in a top-class performance as his side beat Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht 2-1, drawing praise for the South Africa forward from prominent journalist Peter Vandenbempt.

‘Among the best players in Club Brugge against Anderlecht: Percy Tau, from South Africa, the jewel in Brighton,’ Vandenbempt told Voetbalmagazine.

‘Highly regarded by coaches, Tau showed a huge drive in his actions and in the pressing with which took the breath away of club Anderlecht.

‘Tau was already sensational at Union and it is another smart and swift act from [general manager] Vincent Mannaert that Tau is not playing football a few kilometres away in Brussels, but in Bruges.’

‘Only the efficiency [conversation rate] of at Union has he not yet recovered, but he is certainly a sensational audience player. And not for nothing as a popular superstar and former player of the year in his home country.’

The Brighton and Hove Albion loanee then came off the bench with 15 minutes to play in the Belgium Cup on Wednesday and scored a goal and bagged two assists to help guide his team to a 3-0 win, taking his season tally to three goals and three assists in nine games across all competitions.
