Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane says Orlando Pirates have proven that they can compete for the Absa Premiership title this season.

The Brazilians extended their lead over second-placed Pirates to three-points after claiming a 2-0 victory against Bidvest Wits at Loftus Versfeld Stadium over the weekend courtesy of goals by Zwane and Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Zwane says the Buccaneers have proven to be real title contenders following their impressive performance this season.

‘Pirates have a strong team. You can see the way they play: their combinations, the way they go forward and they are organised at the back,’ Zwane told KickOff.com.

‘They are a strong team and they have shown that they can compete.’

Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to extend their lead at the top when they welcome Golden Arrows to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday, with kick-off set for 19:30.
