Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu feels Andile Jali should not have returned to the PSL in addition to urging Mamelodi Sundowns star Percy Tau to make a move to Europe.

Sundowns and Tau have been in limbo after English Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly put in a multi-million bid for the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Year, but the offer was rejected, which resulted in Tau staying away from pre-season training in a bid to force the move.

Zungu, who left Sundowns for Portugese outfit Vitória Guimarães in 2016 and encouraged Tau to make a similar move, citing that age is not on his side.

“Percy Tau must be a good boy. Go to training and speak to them. They will understand,” he told PowerFM.

“They love him and I know that. They must reach an understanding. Percy is not a youngster. He is 24 and he is older than (Kylian) Mbappe and almost same age as Neymar.

“I have spoken to Percy a lot. He wants to go and I told him he must go overseas. He is old.

He needs to go and improve. Play with good players like him or some who are as talented as him,” he added.

Zungu also gave his insights on Jali’s return to the PSL following a five-year stint in Belgium with KV Oostende.

“In signing Jali, Sundowns are keeping the standard high. But there is Pirates now who have impressed. They played well when Rulani went there.

“Andile Jali should have stayed on in Europe. Knowledge Musona stayed and went to Anderlecht.

“Jali should have been patient. But he has his own mind. But I think he should not have come back,” he concluded.
