SuperSport United ended Bidvest Wits reign at the top of the table as they ran out 2-0 winners at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday.

Neither side found the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes but not for a lack of trying as Daine Klate, Thabo Mnyamane and Eleazar Rodgers all attempted to write their name into the headlines.

Wits had two chances through Gabadinho Mhango and Aubrey Modiba in the second half before Clayton Daniels opened the scoring in the 64th minute as he tapped home following a scrambled corner.

Mnyamane made it two and ended the match as a contest in the 70th minute when he beat Darren Keet with a wonderful curled free kick into the top right corner. Mnyamane’s fourth effort of the season was the match’s final goal as Stuart Baxter’s side kept a clean sheet in a closely fought contest with the Clever Boys.

The win sees Matsatsantsa move to 13 games unbeaten across all competitions and level with Wits on 20 points on the PSL table.

At the Harry Gwala Stadium, Maritzburg United failed to hold onto their lead as Chippa United secured a point following a wonder header from Thembinkosi Lorch in the 75th miunte.
