Bidvest Wits have announced the signing of 22-year-old South African winger Kgaogelo Sekgota.

The youngster joins after three years in Portugal having most recently played for Vitória Setúbal and is the third signing made by the Clever Boys this month.

Wits brought in Eva Nga and Lorenzo Gordinho before confirming Sekgota’s arrival as they look to fight on various fronts in the league, Caf Confederations Cup and the upcoming Nedbank Cup.

Speaking on the wing’s arrival, Wits COO Jonathan Schloss said the club was delighted to bring in a player who they believe will go on to represent the national team.

‘We’re obviously delighted to welcome the 22-year-old to our club. He’s a young and exciting prospect whom we believe will go on to represent Bafana Bafana in due course,’ said Schloss.

‘At 18 years old he had already played at the highest level in Europe for Portuguese Premier League side Setubal. Bidvest Wits FC enjoy a very good relationship with Setubal, and it is with these relationships that our club continues to trade players at the very highest level in European football.’
