Bidvest Wits duo, Gavin Hunt and Lehlohonolo Majoro were named Absa Premiership coach and player respectively for the month of February on Monday afternoon.

It was also revealed that Leonardo Castro won the goal of the month award for January for his strike against Golden Arrows  which was voted for by the fans.

Majoro was happy with his first ever player of the month award: ‘I would like to thank all those that have been behind me and supported me. Especially the coach who trusted me enough to bring me to the club. We have achieved all this [the awards] because of dedication and hard work. If we can continue with the same attitude we will get there [reaching season’s goals],’ he said on the award.

Hunt pointed out Wits’ poor results towards the end of last year, saying he is lucky to still have his job and to win this award.

‘I am very lucky to be sitting here after December. But that is football, we had a very bad start but we still have a few games to go. We can still finish the season in a decent position. We as players and coaches owe it to the club who supported us through the bad times,’ said Hunt.

Castro was not in attendance at the awards as he is taking a break at home, during the International break.
