Should Orlando Pirates have been awarded a penalty in stoppage time during their Absa Premiership encounter with Cape Town City on Saturday?

The Buccaneers and Citizens were forced to share the spoils after playing out to a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Orlando Stadium.

However, one of the main talking points came in stoppage time when Thabiso Monyane was adjudged to have been fouled in the box by Zukile Kewuti, and instead the referee awarded a free kick to City.

Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena felt that his side should have been an awarded a penalty, which could have won them the game and all three points.

‘We should have won the match. I need to see the last action clearly. I don’t know, maybe we need VAR.

‘If he comes from behind like that and Thabiso [Monyane] is in front of the ball, and is in control and inside the box, well, I’m not in charge of the referees. I don’t talk about refereeing decisions to be honest. We focus on trying to improve the team. We can’t control those situations.’
