Should Baroka forward Evidence Makgopa’s equaliser against Orlando Pirates have been ruled offside or was it a legitimate goal?

Bakgaga earned a hard-fought point against the Buccaneers after playing out to a 1-1 stalemate at Emirates Airline Park on Tuesday evening.

Tshegofatso Mabaso bagged Pirates’ first goal in five matches when he opened the scoring for the Soweto giants in the 16th minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake and slotting the ball home to make it 1-0.

Baroka found the equalising goal in the 35th minute when Thamsanqa Masiya’s low cross was tapped in by Makgopa, who bagged his third goal in four appearances for Bakgaga.

However, the replay showed that the Baroka forward was offside, but the referee did not dwell on his decision as the goal stood.
