New Chippa United coach Eric Tinkler says he remains undaunted by the possibility of getting sacked ahead of his first game at the helm of the Chilli Boys.

The 48-year-old coach was appointed as Dan Malesela’s successor with the Chilli Boys last week after a tough start to their 2018-19 campaign.

The Chilli Boys are yet to secure their first win in the Absa Premiership after suffering defeats against Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates while claiming a point against newly promoted side Black Leopards in the previous league encounter.

Chippa are currently occupying second from bottom in 15th place in the PSL standings with one point from three matches played so far this season.

Tinkler says he was concerned about the clubs instability, but is focused on turning the clubs fortune around this season and guide them in the right directions with a positive mindset.

‘If you are a coach there’s no job security. You are judged on results; you are judged on your last three points,’ Tinkler told IOL.

‘I’m not worried. I know I can be fired today, tomorrow, next month or after four years, but eventually it will come. It is inevitable. Those are the pressures that come with this job.

‘I must say, I was concerned (about the club instability) but had to come here with a positive mindset. I’m not worried.’

The former SuperSport United coach is determined to lift his side off the bottom half of the top and help the Chilli Boys secure a top eight spot this season.

‘We have a good squad. I’m hungry and I want to succeed. My first objective and target is to take the team away from the bottom of the log. If we can do that, I believe our squad has the potential to finish in the top eight.’

‘Success doesn’t happen overnight though – it takes a lot of hard work and patience. Everyone at the club must take responsibility, from players, technical staff to the management,’ he concluded.
