Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau has revealed that his team do not talk about last season’s failures where they botched their title defence.

Sundowns lost out to Bidvest Wits despite being largely tipped to be favourites. The Brazilians looked poised for another league title but dropped points at a crucial stage which saw them miss out on beating the Clever Boys.

They now face a similar situation this season, only this time they battle against Orlando Pirates. The Buccaneers sit just four points behind the Pitso Mosimane’s side and stand ready to take advantage of any slip up in the run to the end of the season.

The in-form star at Sundowns Tau revealed that they don’t think about last season’s failures but are rather focusing on the current campaign, ‘We don’t talk about last season. We picked up what we did wrong last season at the beginning of the [current] season and it’s something we cannot do anything about.

‘We just have to focus on what we have, which is the league and the four-point lead and then try to win our games. We need to focus on ourselves. If we take every game as it comes, we will make sure Masandawana [supporters] are happy,’ said Tau.

Sundowns will be able to extend their lead at the top when they host Bidvest Wits at Loftus this Saturday, with kick-off at 15:00.
