Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly welcomed 19-year-old Zimbabwean striker Delic Murimba on trial after the forward impressed at the Cosafa u-20 Championships last December.

Murimba, who is currently at Zimbabwean Premier League side Triangle United FC, shared the Golden Boot award with South Africa’s Lyle Foster at the Championships in in Zambia in December last year, where he caught the eye of a number of clubs.

The forward scored five goals in the competition and according to reports in the Zimbabwean publication, The Herald, Downs employee Belinda Ndlovu has confirmed that the player has been invited to the club for a trial.

‘We confirm that the above-mentioned professional soccer player (Delic Murimba) has been invited by us (Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club) to attend trials at our club, for a period of approximately 10 days with immediate effect to travel to South Africa on the 14th of January 2019,’ The Herald has attributed the comments to Ndlovu.

‘Sundowns will be responsible for his flights, accommodation, transport and meals for the duration of his stay in South Africa. Further, we confirm that Sundowns FC will take full responsibility of him whilst he is in South Africa and ensure his return to his home country. Should you have any queries, do not hesitate to contact us,’ Ndlovu’s letter further stated, according to the Zimbabwean publication.

Downs coach Pitso Mosimane could be keen to strengthen his frontline in the January transfer window, and should Murimba impress at Chloorkop he may just earn himself a contract at the current Absa Premiership champions.
