CAF Champions League holders Mamelodi Sundowns and their coach Pitso Mosimane have been nominated for awards at the  2016 Sports Awards.

Sundowns, who are also the defending PSL and TKO champions, were named in the Team of the Year category alongside the men’s rowing coxless team and the Springboks.

While no Brazilians squad member managed to make the cut this year, coach Pitso Mosimane was recognised for his efforts in guiding the Chloorkop side to numerous major trophies with a place in the Coach of the Year category.

Mosimane’s biggest opposition is likely to come from Anna Botha, who coaches Rio 2016 400m gold medallist and world record-holder Wayde van Niekerk. Jean Verster and Suzanne Ferreira make up the other nominees.
