The Premier Soccer League has found Mamelodi Sundowns guilty of the ineligible fielding of Wayne Arendse, while the footballing body has also charged Downs coach Pitso Mosimane for allegedly assaulting an AmaZulu official.

The incident involving defender Arendse occurred during the Absa Premiership clash between Sundowns and Bidvest Wits last year, when the centre back was drafted into the squad from the stands during the warm-up, after Thapelo Morena was injured and had to pull out of the game.

This is in violation of code 16.3.2, which states that a team sheet can’t have any changes made once it has been submitted.

‘16.3.2. No player may be added to the team sheet who was not listed on the team sheet that was submitted,’ as revealed in the handbook.

The charge against Mosimane arose after he was found guilty of bringing the league into disrepute when he allegedly assaulted an AmaZulu team security official, Satchmo Ngwenya, by punching him in the face.

The PSL announced on Wednesday that they have found both Sundowns and Mosimane guilty, releasing a statement that reads:

‘PSL DC Outcome on Mamelodi Sundowns, Wayne Arendse and Pitso Mosimane.

‘In the second matter arising from an incident between AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns on 1 September 2018,  Pitso Mosimane was charged with misconduct after he allegedly assaulted AmaZulu team security official, Satchmo Ngwenya, by punching him in the face.
