Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic felt that his side should have put the game to bed earlier following their 2-0 win over Black Leopards at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

Luvuyo Memela opened the scoring for the hosts in the 23rd minute when his superb free kick found the top corner before Thembinkosi Lorch rounded off the scoring in the 80th minute to snatch all three points.

The win sees the Buccaneers stretch their lead at the top of league table to three points over Mamelodi Sundowns, who still have two games in hand due to their Caf Champions League commitments.

Sredojevic says that he was delighted with his side’s overall performance, but wants his players to be more clinical about their decision-making in the final third.

‘It was a tough competitive game,’ Sredojevic told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘It is not easy to play against a team fighting relegation. But instead of killing the game, we didn’t kill the game until the 80th minute. We should have killed the game much earlier.

‘But on the positive side, we only conceded one shot on target. It could have been a much bigger scoreline. But we are looking at this result as an injection of motivation before a big game against Free State Stars on Saturday.

‘Thank you for the supporters. But I would like to see the same turnout on Saturday. I hope they see the players are playing for the badge.’

Orlando Pirates will be hoping to continue their winning run of form when they welcome Free State Stars to the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 8:15pm.
