Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic asserts that his side have the belief to go all the way in the Absa Premiership title race.

Pirates head into Saturday’s clash with Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium knowing that a victory and the three points would take them six points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the table, although Downs will have three games in hand come the final whistle on Saturday in Soweto.

Pirates currently hold the three-point advantage over both Wits and Sundowns as the league enters the business section with only a handful of games remaining.

Despite Pitso Mosimane and his charges having games in hand, points on the board for Pirates will create a lot of pressure on the Brazilians, who are competing on two fronts as they look to progress to the Caf Champions League semi-finals, and Sredojevic has asserted that his team believe they can win the league if they just keep getting the job done.

‘Once we are sitting where we are sitting, it is our duty and responsibility in each and every competition to target the highest possible level – in this case to win the league,’ said the Serbian.

‘But having in mind that our opponents are having matches in hand, we cannot say that we have gained any advantage – we have no right to speak about that.

‘We shall see what the final bill is, but to tell you openly, following all of us as sportsmen, human beings, Pirates people, coach and supporters, all of us look towards that direction.

‘And we shall chafe our skin and give everything, and see what football shall give us back, but I can assure you from each individual in the dressing room, we all believe.’

The Buccaneers host Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 8:15pm.
