The Buccaneers failed to secure a third straight Nedbank Cup trophy after they fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Glamour Boys in Pretoria.

Gaston Sirino opened the scoring for Amakhosi, but Evidence Makgopa drew the game level, but it was Yusuf Maart’s goal that proved to be the difference as Chiefs held on for the win.

The Spanish tactician has come to terms with the fact that you cannot win all finals you play in, having led the Buccaneers to six finals.

“An ugly game, very ugly from the beginning until the end, I think. Not so much quality today to be played, beginning of the game again one penalty they got the lead and we managed to come back,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

“I think we were better near the end of the first half and too little football in the second, a lot of interruptions, fouls and there were a moment five to ten minutes when Chiefs were better than us and they managed to get the lead and we try until the end to equalise but we couldn’t today.

“Our sixth final together, we cannot win all of them congratulations to the club, players as well for the effort in the competition. Today is a hard day, but we’ll be back.

“It’s not easy, it’s so difficult, today we couldn’t. I’m not going to analyse the reasons why, I know why. We couldn’t find the spaces we were looking for in the build-up and yeah that’s it,” he concluded.
