Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro says Amakhosi have been training hard to prepare for the Soweto derby in the hope of exacting revenge on Orlando Pirates.

The Glamour Boys will be hoping to bounce back in the league following their 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City in their previous encounter at the FNB Stadium on 30 January.

The Glamour Boys currently occupy sixth place on the Absa Premiership standings with 27 points from 19 matches, while the Buccaneers are in third place with 32 points from 18 games.

Castro has so far played in three derbies and netted twice, but the Chiefs attacker will be hoping for redemption against their arch-rivals, who beat them 2-1 in the previous installment of the derby.

‘The Soweto derby is South Africa’s biggest game,’ Castro told his club’s official website. ‘No other game comes even close.’

‘I barely sleep after having lost a game. I keep thinking, “What should we have been done differently?” But you also need to move on, you can’t get stuck in a disappointing moment.

‘It’s a must-win Derby, also because we want to get closer to the top of the log.We have improved a lot since he joined. We are training hard and are very motivated to do well.

The Colombian striker called on the Amakhosi faithfuls to come out in numbers to support them at the FNB Stadium.

‘We need your support – you are the player number 12. Be that 12th man. We would like you to back us for the full 90 minutes,’ he added.

‘To see and hear you cheering us on, especially in a full stadium, is so enormously motivating. That’s when, as a player, you want to be at your best. Let’s win Saturday’s derby together.’
