Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Joseph ‘Banks’ Setlhodi urged Amakhosi to put their recent disappointment behind them and focus on winning the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates.

The Glamour Boys will square off against the Buccaneers in the second instalment of the Soweto derby in the Absa Premiership when they meet at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The last time the these teams met in the league, Chiefs managed to claim the bragging rights and all three points when they secured a 3-2 victory over their rivals at the same venue.

Sethlodi looked back at his playing days at Chiefs while comparing the modern Soweto derbies to the past ones by suggesting that these days the results are unpredictable.

‘Derbies can’t be predicted,’ Banks told the Kaizer Chiefs official website.

‘Well, at least these days… We would usually win when I was still part of it, minding the posts, and especially in the days that Kaizer Motaung himself would play – he used the mesmerise Pirates’ defence.

‘I wish my team all the best in Saturday’s clash. The players must put their recent disappointing results behind them, look forward and keep focused.’

Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates kicks off at 3:30pm.
