Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas revealed that Itumeleng Khune is expected to return in time for Bafana Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations Cup clash against Libya on 8 September.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper missed out on Amakhosi’s 2-2 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic after picking up a knock during their 2-2 draw with SuperSport United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg last weekend.

Virgil Vries is also out of action through injury, which will keep him sidelined for at least two weeks.

The Italian coach confirmed that young defender Teenage Hadebe will be available for the next game after resuming full training following his injury setback, while also commending stand-in goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma on his performance between the sticks for Chiefs on Wednesday.

He also confirmed that their No 1 goalkeeper Khune is currently mending his way back to full fitness, but will be back in time for South Africa’s exploits in the Afcon.

‘Teenage on Wednesday morning played in a friendly game for players not selected [to meet Celtic]‚’ Solinas told reporters.

‘He is much better. Now it’s the fitness that is OK. He’s available for the next game. We will see.

‘Khune did not play because against SuperSport. You remember‚ he was treated for an [arm] injury‚ taking a knock‚ in the first half.’

Speaking on Bvuma’s performance, Solinas said: ‘He was not OK to play. It is the first time in my career that I have lost two goalkeepers at the same time.

‘But I am happy with the performance by Bruce‚ because in my opinion, he had a good game. But about Khune‚ don’t worry – he’s available for Bafana Bafana.’
