Bissau-Guinean international Toni Silva has joined Egyptian Premier League outfit Al-Ittihad from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Egyptian side.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea youth player failed to hit the ground running at Sundowns, and was released by the Brazilians after spending just six months at the club.

It has now been reported that Silva passed his medical on Friday and completed his move to the club.

Al Ittihad have since released the following statement on the matter, which reads:

‘The board of Al Ittihad club, headed by Mr Mohamed Moselhi, has completed the signing of Tony Salifa (Silva), the former South African player, with a two-and-a-half-year contract.’

Silva now becomes Al-Ittihad‘s third foreign international signing after they captured the services of Brazilian defender Wallace da Silva and Nigerian forward Derick Ogbu.
