Kaizer Chiefs have commented on the latest developments surrounding their appeal at the Court of Arbitrations for Sport over their transfer ban issued by Fifa, stating that finishing the 2019-20 season is being prioritised over the appeal.

The Glamour Boys were slapped with a two-window transfer ban in February after Fifa had ruled in favour of Madagascan club Fosa Juniorus over the supposed illegitimate signing of midfielder Andriamirado Andrianarimanana.

The world football governing body ruled that Chiefs had contravened the Fifa Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players when they signed ‘Dax’ without the permission of his former club.

Chiefs have insisted that they had followed all the correct procedures and have since take their battle to the courtroom as they look to have Fifa’s ruling overturned.

The appeal, however, has been put on the back burner due to the coronavirus outbreak, with the CAS having a number of cases delayed causing a knock-on effect.

With the club seemingly silent on the matter, a concerned supporter took to Twitter to voice his frustrations: ‘@Amu_j : Kodwa the club is still mum on the developments of the transfer ban appeal.’

The club, surprisingly, responded to the tweet: ‘Yes, because there have been no developments yet. Top of agenda now is the 2019/20 Absa Premiership completion update.’

The issue is likely to drag on for a while with CAS, Fifa, the PSL and Chiefs all look to navigate the uncertainty caused by the global pandemic.
