Orlando Pirates will be without Issa Sarr, Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge ahead of their Absa Premiership clash against Bidvest Wits at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

The Soweto giants will be hoping to bounce back, following their humiliating 6-0 defeat against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

Augusto Palacios’ side are currently placed 10th in the Absa Premiership standings with 19 points, having won only four of their 15 matches played so far this season.

The Buccaneers has now confirmed that Senegalese midfielder Issa Sarr will not be made available for the Absa Premiership clash, as he is still nursing the injury he suffered during their goalless draw with Platinum Stars last week.

The Sea Robbers medical team has confirmed that the 30-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation and should return to full training sometime this week. A recent scan has allayed any fears of any serious ligament damage.

A Pirates medical report suggests that Brighton Mhlongo strained his hamstring, but that his knee shows no pathology. Mhlongo is expected to undergo a final phase of rehabilitation and should resume full training if he passes the medical.

Meanwhile, other players who have been ruled out of the clash tonight due to injury, are Thabo Rakhale, who is currently undergoing physiotherapy on his hamstring. He is expected to be out of action for about 2-3 weeks.

Thabo Qalinge is expected to undergo a scan later in the week for his strained back.

While both Rakhale and Qalinge can be ruled out of the Absa Premiership clash tonight, midfielder Gift Motupa, Mpho Makola and Edwin Gyimah are expected to undergo late fitness tests to determine their availability.

Orlando Pirates will now welcome Bidvest Wits to the Orlando Stadium in their mouthwatering Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
