Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane claims that his side ‘were not fresh’ during their goalless draw against Baroka at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday.

The Brazilians are now winless in their last two Absa Premiership encounters after picking up their first defeat of the campaign to Kaizer Chiefs before playing out to a draw with Bakgaga.

The stalemate sees Sundowns remain in second place on the league standings with 18 points after nine games and now trail log leaders Amakhosi by seven points.

Mosimane insists that their penalty shoot-out against Chippa United in the Telkom Knockout Cup affected their performance after the teams could not be separated after 120 minutes.

‘Difficult game for us, you could see we were not fresh. That 120 minutes took a little bit from us three days back and these guys weren’t playing,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘They put pressure on us, they looked sharper. You could see that. But we tried. It’s just that our execution wasn’t right in the box in the first half, Ali [Meza] should’ve cracked the ball, Kekana had a two-v-one passed too early.

‘Mauricio (foul) there, I don’t know, its’ for you guys to talk about. Maybe Ace [Ncobo] will talk. But we didn’t really play that well that you could say we deserved the win. We have to be honest.’

Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in their next Absa Premiership clash on Sunday with kick off set for 3:30.
