Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane insists that every player has to fight for his position in the squad or risk losing his position in the team.

The likes of George Lebese, Oupa Manyisa, Thokazni Sekotlong and Siyabonga Zulu have reportedly been linked with moves away from Sundowns during the January transfer window as they continue to search for regular game time.

However, Mosimane asserts that there is stiff competition for places in his starting line-up, while insisting that only those who continue to fight for their places in the team are to be rewarded.

‘Positions are up for grabs,’ Mosimane told KickOff.com.

‘You create your own luck. You fight your way in. You fight for your position. It’s not easy. When you are on the outside, when you are on the bench, you need to come in and make a difference. Otherwise everybody takes positions, otherwise you go to the stands.

‘You keep yourself in the team. It’s survival of the fittest. It’s a difficult team, Mamelodi Sundowns.’

‘I know you ask so and so is not playing … Ja, so and so is a good player, but it’s a queue.

‘You must take your chance. If you don’t take your chance, why should I take out a player doing well and scoring?’ he concluded.

Mamelodi Sundowns will be hoping to secure their place in the Caf Champions League group stages when they face Al-Ahly Benghazi in their first round second leg on Friday.
