Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari has spoken out for the first time since becoming the first PSL player to test positive for Covid-19.

Pirates confirmed last week that the midfielder tested positive for the virus but remaines asymptomatic.

Motshwari has now commented, encouraging everyone to continue following government guidelines.

‘I’d really like to thank everyone who has been supportive, sending me messages in the past few days; messages of encouragement [and] wishing me well. I really appreciate it and it really means a lot to me,’ said Motshwari in a video posted by the club.

‘Currently, I’m under strict medical surveillance and I’m doing quite well under the circumstances.

‘To all the fans, I’d really like to encourage them to practice their social distancing, keep on sanitising your hands. Keep on wearing your masks,’ he concluded.

The league is set to meet again this week plotting a way forward through the pandemic while leagues across the globe start looking at restarting.
