Orlando Pirates have confirmed that the club has parted ways with Ghanaian midfielder Edwin Gyimah.

The Buccaneers have now agreed to release the Ghanaian international from his contract as per his request.

The 25-year-old had submitted a request in writing prior to his departure to the African Cup of Nations, where he was to go on national duty with Ghana.

‘The Club has acceded to Mr Gyimah’s request and wish him all of the best in his future endeavours,’ according to the Orlando Pirates website.

Over the course of his career with Orlando Pirates, Gyimah has made a total of 38 appearances in all competitions since joining the Buccaneers from SuperSport United at the beginning of last season.

The Sea Robbers are currently placed 10th on the Absa Premiership table with 19 points and have won only four of their 16 matches played so far this season.

Orlando Pirates will travel to the Cape Town Stadium next when they take on log leaders Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership encounter on Saturday.

Kick-off has been scheduled for 20:15.
