Orlando Pirates have confirmed that goalkeeper coach Rowen Fernandez and Nigerian shot-stopper Emmanuel Daniel have left the Soweto giants.

The Buccaneers held their first press conference under coach Milutin Sredojevic, ahead of their opening Absa Premiership encounter against Chippa United on Saturday evening.

The former Uganda national team mentor revealed that former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fernandez has left the club, with Crotian goalkeeper coach Ivica Vukusic taking over the reins.

Pirates endured their worst-ever finish in the PSL era last season, with a number of  shocking displays from their goalkeepers throughout the campaign.

In a bid to bolster their defensive ranks, former coach Kjell Jonevret secured the services of goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, who did duty for Nigeria at the 2016 Olympic Games. However, the 23-year-old has been offloaded following the arrival of ‘Micho’ – without having made an appearance for the club.

‘Rowen Fernandez is not with us, we have a new goalkeeper coach,’ Sredojevic told reporters.

‘Emmanuel Daniel is not with us, we have three goalkeepers [Wayne] Sandilands, [Jackson] Mabokgwane and [Siyabonga] Mpontshane,’ he added.
