Bernard Parker has pleaded for patience from Kaizer Chiefs fans as the club looks to re-establish themselves as giants in South African football.

The Soweto giants endured another torrid season – their third successive campaign without silverware and the former Bafana Bafana international stressed that the rebuilding phases won’t be overnight.

‘As you can also see at big teams in Europe as well,’ he tod media at the monthly PSL awards.

‘Making that transition and bringing in new players takes some time for the team to strike that consistency and gear in order to get results and trophies.

‘With the big teams, a lot of the fans don’t look at the progress but at what you’ve won, and it was a bit of a transition with youngsters coming through but they didn’t help consistently enough, in terms of bringing a new dimension, maturity and continuity in the team.

‘That is what has been a bit of a hiccup in our journey this past season, and us seniors need to continue motivating and passing on the culture of Kaizer Chiefs, and how they have to conduct themselves on and off the field,’ he concluded.

Parker was Chiefs’ top-scorer for their 2017-18 campaign with six goals in his 20 appearances in all competitions.
