Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele says his side are expected to cruise to victory over Highlands Park at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys currently sit third in the Absa Premiership standings with 30 points, having won eight of their last 17 matches played so far this season.

Mphahlele has been a regular starter under head coach Steve Komphela since the start of the season and his influence in the Amakhosi defence has been well received by the Chiefs faithful.

The 27-year-old says he is delighted with his side’s recent victory over Martizburg United and adds that it has boosted not only his, but also his teammates’ confidence ahead of the next Absa Premiership match.

‘It was a good game of football. It’s always difficult to play at the Harry Gwala Stadium and get a result, but we managed to do that and we are very happy,’ Mphahlele told the Kaizer Chiefs website.

‘To make the win even better was being able to provide an assist and give my teammates an opportunity to score, especially as a defender when you know that your primary job is to defend.

‘So when you get an assist it feels good that you’re making a contribution and it’s also good for one’s confidence.’

Mphahlele continued to state that his side are expected to beat the Lions of the North and keep their ‘winning streak’ going.

‘I watched their last game (against Polokwane City) at home, and obviously they have a good team. I am actually surprised why they are at the bottom of the log because they have good players who have experience of playing at the highest level,’ He added.

‘We have to be at our best if we want to beat them and switch on from the first whistle till the last and take our chances. In all honesty, we are expected to win against them and we want to keep our winning streak going.’

Kaizer Chiefs will now welcome Highlands Park to the FNB Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 18:00.
