Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes that his side can still retain the Absa Premiership title, despite having not picked up a victory in five-consecutive matches.

The Brazilians will look to put an end to their barren spell when they host cross-town rivals SuperSport United in the Tshwane Derby at the Loftus Versveld Stadium tonight.

The Chloorkop-based outfit find themselves nine points off-the-pace from table-toppers Bidvest Wits, however Masandawana do have two games in-hand which could prove vital in their bid to retain the league title.

‘Remember, at one stage we were 11 points behind with eight games to go in the 2013-14 season. You know what happened [Sundowns went on to win the league],’ Mosimane told KickOff.com.

‘It [Sundowns’ current situation] is not as bad as [it seems]. I am not saying it’s going to go like that, but I am looking at the positive,” continued the coach, whose side face fourth-placed Matsatsantsa in a must-win clash tonight.

‘This team is still good to enough to put everybody on one half. This team will be playing again on Thursday, maybe we can win one game because if we win one game, everything turns around.

‘We haven’t had a win in five [league] games but we are still in the right place. Okay, not the best [position] but still okay, hopefully, we get a win.

‘It’s not going to be easy, it’s a local derby, you know the story, but we will keep going, keep trying,’ he concluded.

The two sides face-off at the Loftus Versveld Stadium with kick-off set for 19:00.
