Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he was happy to keep a clean sheet after claiming a comfortable 3-0 victory over Platinum Stars on Saturday.

The Brazilians moved four points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership standings after a brace from Khama Billiat and a goal from Sibusiso Vilakazi helped them claim all three points at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Mosimane admits that his side’s main problem was always conceding goals, and never in their attacking department.

‘We dealt with the first half very well because the second half was slightly different. They reacted in the second half, they were pushing us. But we reacted well on the breaks, although we didn’t use our chances,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘I’m happy that we kept zero behind [clean-sheet] because our problem has not been scoring goals. Our problem was to keep zero behind and we kept zero behind [clean-sheet]. We’re scoring which is good. Khama was playing as a winger, he scored two goals which is good.

‘You have to close Vuyo [Mere] down he’s smart he’s the one who’s distributing the ball. So Mshishi [Themba Zwane] had to work very hard that’s why he was quiet. I told him he had to sacrifice for the team and not be all over the place like he is always over the place and he did a good job on Vuyo.’

The 56-year-old says he is working hard to get his new signings Jeremy Brockie, Gaston Sirino and Aubrey Ngoma into his squad for their Caf Champions League campaign.

‘I wish I could have done it [substitutions] a little bit earlier. I wish I could give [Jeremy] Brockie and Gaston [Sirino] more game time. Aubrey [Ngoma] [as well] you could see he’s still struggling with fitness,’ he added.

‘When Ronaldo or Messi is available we’ll do it why not? But at the moment it’s okay because our deadline for Caf [registration of players] has been reached. So we don’t have time to put Gaston and Brockie in. They must catch up quickly. We don’t have time so I have to sacrifice the ones that are playing.’
