Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has written off the defending champion’s six-game winless streak by saying his side always start like this.

Despite coming into the season as defending champions, Sundowns are ninth on the Absa Premiership table with six points, while they have also been knocked out of the CAF Champions League and MTN8.

The slow start, however, does not worry Mosimane who firmly believes that they are just ‘three points behind their programme’.

‘You know Sundowns, we always start like this, isn’t it?

‘We always start like this and I think you know the end. What is the end? We are okay. We are just… three points behind, three points behind into our programme.

‘Probably in the next phase. Remember we group them, we group them to five games, five games, five games. So in this group at the moment we are three points behind.

‘Maybe, we can get the three points on the second block, third block, fourth block or fifth block. You never know.’

Sundowns may have been favourites to retain their crown prior to the start of the season, but the strong starts of some of their rivals have got many people talking about where the title could end up. Mosimane nevertheless is not worried about what his title rivals are doing.

‘You never look at what other people are doing, hey. Because if you start comparing, it’s not fair, neh? To say what others have done.

‘I can also tell you what Sundowns has done for the last five years if you want to compare with other people, and I think you know the comparison, neh.

‘So don’t go there,’ concluded the 2016 Caf Coach of the year.

Masandawana will travel down to the Princess Magogo Stadium to take on Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening with kick off at 7:30pm.
