Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed that he is still attempting to convince Khama Billiat to stay with the club.

Billiat’s current deal expires in June and although he is yet to make an announcement on his future, it is widely expected that he will leave Chloorkop.

The Zimbabwean joined Sundowns as a 22-year-old in 2013 and has developed into one of the league’s top attacking talents and a player that Mosimane undoubtedly wants to keep in his squad.

Speaking on The forwards future, Mosimane said: ‘He’s got an impeccable first touch and his finishing is one of the best in the country. He may not have a big physique, but he does not get bullied by defenders easily.

‘We got him when he was 22 from Ajax and it was a big price we paid, and everybody says “how can you spend so much money on a 22-year-old”?

‘He has been at the heart of Sundowns’ success, then you appreciate. If he stays, it’s a legacy we are building. He has contributed so much for the last five years and he knows the team loves him. You know me, I won’t stop trying to make him change his mind because where there is light there is hope. Anything is possible.’

Mosimane has been impressed with Billiat’s attitude, even though reports have suggested that he wants to leave.

‘At Sundowns we played [Keagan] Dolly until his last match. We played Bongani Zungu. He has been proper whenever he comes in. He scores, he contributes and he has been good. He has shown a positive attitude. He has matured. I would love to have a player like Khama again at Sundowns.’
