Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has emphasised that he will need to manage his players well if they are going to enjoy more success this season.

The Brazilians are the only South African team left in a continental cup as they aim to progress from the Caf Champions League group stages.

It is well known the value which Mosimane places on his side’s participation in Africa’s premium cup competition. However, in order to advance to the later stages of the competition, Downs will have to go through all the trials and tribulations that accompany an extended stay in the Champions League.

Masandawana will of course still have to participate in the Absa Premiership and all the South African cup competitions, creating a jam-packed fixture schedule.

Speaking after his side’s opening day 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs, Mosimane revealed that he will need to manage his players well if Sundowns are going to challenge on all fronts.

‘We need to have better player management. We have so many cups facing us. Having many players doesn’t mean we will win.

‘Many changes (to the starting 11) hurt the momentum and rhythm of the team. We don’t want to compromise the league or the Champions League,’ the former Bafana Bafana mentor added.

‘Our people like the top 8 and we never won it. I’m looking at other people and how they will cope. But they do not have the games we have.

‘But we will target two major trophies out of five. Every year we must win a trophy,’ concluded Mosimane.
