Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed his gratitude to Tanzanian side Azam for hosting the African champions.

The Brazilians recently played out to a goalless draw against the Tanzanian side, in a match dominated by the visiting side from South Africa.

Mosimane lamented the lack of goals, saying that it would have been much better if the score had been 1 – 1 or any draw with goals.

The 52-year-old believes a draw with goals would’ve been more positive for his side’s confidence, rather than playing out to a goalless draw.

‘That would have been better than 0 – 0,’ Mosimane told the Mamelodi Sundowns website.

‘We want to thank the coach and Azam for giving us the opportunity to play here.  As you know, we wanted to play two more games – against Simba and Yanga (Dar Young Africans), but that did not happen.’

Mosimane added that he was left frustrated after the match but insists he was delighted with the result in the end.

‘We are, however, happy with the game. It was a good game – not easy, as Azam made it difficult for us and we could not score.  We were frustrated but kept pushing our opponents into their half, but we did not seriously test the goalkeeper,” he added.

Mamelodi Sundowns will next take on Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
