Kaizer Chiefs striker Ryan Moon believes Amakhosi are in a great position to contend for the PSL title after their 1-0 victory over Cape Town City.

The 21-year-old scored the only goal of the match as Amakhosi claimed all three points against Benni McCarthy’s side at the FNB Stadium.

Moon is hoping Chiefs can maintain their current form after extending their unbeaten run to nine games, claiming six wins and three draws since they last suffered a defeat to Chippa United in December.

‘It’s been good. We need to keep the momentum going. We did well last week against Golden Arrows. It’s important that we win. It’s nine games left so we have to keep going,’ Moon told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘I’m happy but I could have had a hat-trick. I had a couple of chances so I’ll keep working hard and rectifying it in training and it will come. The more confidence I have, the more I’ll score.

‘It’s great [to be at Chiefs]. I have good players around me and a good coach who believes in me, so far so good. We have the likes of Bernard Parker, [Siphiwe] Tshabalala just to mention a few. So this is a great team to be part of.’

The Glamour Boys have now moved up to second in the Absa Premiership standings with 34 points, trailing log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by four points.

‘We have a good coach who has been motivating us since day one telling us the league is ours, so we’re sticking with the pack. Anything can happen, it’s a marathon. It’s a long way to go,’ he added.

Kaizer Chiefs are now set to welcome Bloemfontein Celtic to the FNB Stadium when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 20:15.
