Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Joseph Molangoane on a two-and-a-half year contract after the player won his DRC battle with Chippa United.

‘We would like to confirm the signing of Joseph Molangoane from Chippa United till 30 June 2019. Welcome to the family #Amakhosi4Life,’ the club tweeted on Friday.

Despite the confirmation from Chiefs, Chippa are set to continue their battle in this matter after revealing that they would be appealing the ruling from the PSL’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.

Kaizer Chiefs have finally completed the signing of midfield ace, Joseph ‘Tight’ Molangoane from Chippa United on a contract deal ending 30 June 2019.The 28-year-old’s arrival at Naturena puts him in the frame to face his former employers on Saturday.

‘Molangoane is a very good footballer, a top-class player,’ said Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung.

‘I think he will be a fantastic addition to the squad.’

The Chiefs administrator admitted his relief that, from the club’s side at least, the protracted battle to secure his services was now down.

‘We are relieved that the matter that held up his transfer has finally been resolved through the PSL Disciplinary Resolution Chamber and he is free to join the club of his choice.

‘We are delighted to finally welcome the player officially to the club. It’s a special moment for him and he deserves an opportunity to play football again.

‘We have got a lot of fixtures coming up and we are going to need a deep squad of quality players for that, and we anticipate that Joseph will blend it nicely with his new teammates.’

Molangoane began his professional career with Platinum Stars, where he developed under the tutelage of current Amakhosi coach, Steve Komphela. He has also turned out for AmaZulu, Orlando Pirates and more recently, Chippa United.

The Moletji-born midfielder revealed his decision to join Amakhosi was swayed by the brand of football associated with the team, as well as the opportunity to work with Komphela again.

‘The coach was a very big factor for me. He showed me from the beginning that he really wanted me,’ said Molangoane in his first interview as a Chiefs player.

‘The team has some fantastic players in their ranks and I have admired their style of play for a while now.

‘I grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs. Coming here is a dream come true for me and my main goal now is play football and to contribute positively to the success of the club.’

Komphela is pleased that Molangoane has finally linked up with his squad.

‘This is a welcome addition to the squad. His qualities are unquestionable. The “boy” has a big heart. As small as he is, he is one of the bravest players I have ever come across. We welcome him and look forward to his contribution,’ said Komphela.

Molangoane will don the number 23 jersey.
