Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp questioned his players attitudes after a 1-0 shock defeat to Baroka at FNB Stadium on Saturday night.

Last week the Amakhosi cruised past Cape Town City 2-0 in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final with an impressive performance.

Middendorp, however, then saw his side produce a lacklustre performance in the Absa Premiership on Saturday evening.

The German coach, speaking to SuperSport TV after the game, admitted that his side lacked the attitude and hunger which resulted in the half-hearted performance.

‘We saw two totally different games from the same players,’ said Middendorp.

‘We had nearly the same starting XI from last week, where we saw a fantastic performance. We had the attitude and hunger and we spoke about it the whole week that we can’t let our guard down this week.

‘When you are playing teams that are fighting for survival, you can’t be half-hearted and that’s what we were. We didn’t have the right attitude and didn’t play the soccer game we are capable of playing.

‘We need to take the right lesson from this defeat. Just because we had a fantastic game last weekend, doesn’t mean everything is in place.’

Amakhosi are next in action in the all-important Nedbank Cup semi-final against Chippa United before they have a difficult trip to Thohoyandou to face Black Leopards in the middle of next week.
