Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp is delighted to have cleared the first hurdle in the Nedbank Cup, but is focused on their next game against Maritzburg United.

The Glamour Boys progressed to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup after beating Royal Eagles 1-0 courtesy of Lebogang Manyama’s solitary goal at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Amakhosi have now been pitted against Highlands Park in the round of 16 following the conclusion of the draw on Monday evening.

After progressing to the next round, Middendorp’s focus is back on the Absa Premiership as they look to snatch three points away from the Team of Choice.

‘I am happy we are going into the Nedbank Cup last-16 draw,’ Middendorp told his club’s official website.

‘It can be tricky. I am sure you saw some of the results coming through. We will now focus on our next league match against Maritzburg United, but happy we won our first Nedbank Cup hurdle.’

Kaizer Chiefs against Maritzburg United kicks off at 6pm.
