Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp conceded that he was disappointed his side had failed to beat Golden Arrows on Tuesday, saying that his side were so dominant they could’ve played without a goalkeeper.

The Soweto giants were held to 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening in their Absa Premiership clash, despite dominating large parts of the encounter.

Steve Komphela’s Arrows side hit the front in the 34th minute when Nduduzo Sibiya netted for the away side before Chiefs finally equalised in the 77th minute through Kgotso Moleko’s, despite having a number of chances to do so earlier.

Speaking after the game, Middendorp told SuperSport TV that it was painful to accept the draw after controlling the game and creating a number of chances throughout.

‘Painful to see the result of 1-1 in the end,’ said the German.

‘I don’t know, two three times goalpost, crossbar, opportunities before we concede the goal. I don’t know. It could have been 3-0, 4-0 with these opportunities we had just to tap the ball in.

‘I must say I’m not disappointed with the way we tried in the second half with quick ball circulation, with some better movement.

‘It is disappointing that we didn’t come through. I don’t even remember them having a shot on target on our side. I probably could have done it without a goalkeeper. But it’s nothing new. We had it against Baroka, against Pirates.

‘For example, Dumisani Zuma is a fantastic player, but in the box if there is one man on your back, you don’t need to pass back. You are in the box, turn around, left, right, and shoot. And that is what we consistently ask for. But we don’t do it in a game,’ concluded the Chiefs coach.
